York-based singer-songwriter Amy Lennard will release her full-length
debut, I Need To Love (Hold Your Own Records), on September 9.
Lennard’s unique blend of Americana, roots rock and distinctly female
point of view has already won her early praise and acclaim. Teenage

singer-songwriter Amy Lennard will release her full-length debut, I
Need To Love ( Hold Your Own Records ), on September 9. Lennard’s
unique blend of Americana, roots rock and distinctly female point of
view has already won her early praise and acclaim. Teenage Kicks
called her “a budding Americana sweetheart” and the audience response
to her first single, “I Wish It Were Mine,” has been almost unanimously
positive.
Lennard penned all ten tracks on the album, making it
her most personal work. Through her passionate songwriting, Lennard
opens up her heart and soul for all listeners to see.
DiscoveringArtists.com said, “Honest songwriting is such a rarity these
days, but Amy Lennard nails it on this album…she weaves a delicate
balance of acoustic rock and semi-folk…and all you can feel is her
voice, her words resonate.”
For I Need To Love, Lennard produced
the CD with the help of Co-Producers Jon Gordon ( Suzanne Vega ) and
Ben Wisch ( Marc Cohn, Jonathan Brooke ). As a result, the album
captures the electricity of her live show and introspective
songwriting. Discussing why she chose the album name I Need To Love,
Lennard feels, “It's a powerful insight and awakes a lot of different
thoughts and feelings in people. The idea came to me a few years ago,
when I was having a hard time and realized I needed to start taking
responsibility for my own happiness."
Lennard recently played a
pre-album release show on June 30th at the Cutting Room in Manhattan.
The packed house of Amy’s fans celebrated the performance with a
standing ovation and demanded an encore. Lennard is supported by a
strong band behind her solid and soulful vocals, giving her show a rare
and enticing depth. Through songs like “I Wish It Were Mine” and “El
Paso,” Lennard wears her heart on her sleeve as the audience connects
with their own inner emotions and desires.
