Its quite often a fait accompli that when a band describes themselves as sounding ‘like nothing you’ve heard before’ they will no doubt sound like a bad version of something you hear several times a day. Invasion on the other hand are a band that effortlessly shun convention in almost every facet. How many other bands can be said to be merging 60s soul power with 80’s heavy thrash and 90’s stoner metal? Add an infatuation with Fantasy imagery borrowed straight from Sabbath, Zeppelin and Uriah Heap, an overall Wizard aesthetic and a massive dose of lysergically enhanced cosmic vibes and you have Invasion. Genuinely a band the like of which you haven’t heard before. Or in their own words “what it would sound like if Tina Turner’s ‘Acid fronted a younger, more stoned Metallica playing Sleep songs too fast (and too short)” .

Invasion become all the more remarkable when you consider that they produce their super-massive sonic attack without Bass and in the traditional patriarchal world of hard rock, with two out of three members of the band being Girls. How many female drummers have their been in the world of Metal? maybe one if you count Vixen’s Roxy Petrucci. And how many metal bands have been fronted by a female black soul singer? Ummm…

The three piece formed in London in 2007. Guitarist Marek started his own night ‘Skill Wizard’ at Old Blue Last and White Heat to support new psych metal bands. The band have now appeared at nights such as Another Music=Another Kitchen, Delete Yourself, Club Motherf*cker and Real Gold. After seeing them perform at ‘Skill Wizard’ Invasion were asked to support Chrome Hoof on their December tour. They have also support the leaders of the new wave of psychedelic metal The Sword and played the Camden Crawl (9/10 Rock Sound) and the Gibson Stage at this years Download Festival. They are supporting Gulliemots at the Future Cinema tent at Latitudes Festival.

The band have just released their limited debut EP ‘Moongazer’ through Run For Your Lives.

Invasion recently recorded a brutal 12 track debut album in 4 days at the legendary Toerag Studios with James Shaw from Simian Mobile Disco producing. This is due in the Autumn from This Is Music Ltd.
