We've been covering alt-J since 2012, and they've been consistently selling out all their shows across America. Will that happen this Halloween at the Myth in Minnesota? I would bet YES, but we'll have to wait and see. >>> alt-J today announce the release of their second album, This Is All Yours, the follow-up to their million-selling Mercury Prize-winning debut record, An Awesome Wave.
This Is All Yours is available to pre-order immediately; the album will be released on September 22 via Canvasback / Infectious Music in CD, digital and double-vinyl editions.
Starting today, fans who pre-order This Is All Yours via www.altjband.com will receive a code to buy tickets for the U.S. and European tours ahead of anyone else. U.S. tour pre-sale will start 10am local time on Wednesday, June 11 and end 10pm on Thursday, June 12. General on-sale follows 10am local time on Friday, June 13. See below for the full list of European and North American shows.
alt-J are Joe Newman [guitar/vocals], Gus Unger-Hamilton [keyboards] and Thom Green [drums]. They released their debut album An Awesome Wave
to critical acclaim in September 2012 (May 2012 in the UK). The New
York Times called the band's sound "a handsome alloy of dry acoustic
timbre and reverberant effect, suggesting a very British convergence of
texture-minded electronic music and psychedelic folk." The album won the
Mercury Music Prize in November 2012 and was nominated for 3 Brit
Awards in February 2013. By the end of 2012 An Awesome Wave was Bob Boilen of NPR's
Album of the Year, iTunes Alternative Breakthrough Album of the Year
and was on the top 10 lists of numerous critics, including NPR's Robin Hilton, The Wall Street Journal, and Billboard. It has now sold over one million copies world-wide and has been streamed more than 200 million times on Spotify.
