From pressherepublicity.comBat for Lashes and La Roux Nominated for Mercury Prize
We would like to extend our congratulations to two Press
Here artists whose have been nominated for the UK’s Mercury Prize. Bat for
Lashes’ sophomore release Two Suns and
Cherrytree Records artist La Roux’s debut album La Roux are in the running for this
prestigious award.
BAT FOR LASHES
After
playing select shows to sold-out audiences on both coasts this spring, Brighton, England’s
Bat For Lashes (aka Natasha Khan) will return to the U.S. in
August for a North American tour in support of her critically acclaimed album, Two Suns, out now on
Astralwerks. The tour announcement comes on the heels of Two Suns’
nomination for the U.K.’s
prestigious Mercury Prize. Bat for Lashes,
also nominated for her debut record Fur and
Gold in 2007, is this year’s only multiple nominee, elevating
Natasha into the ranks of other lauded Mercury veterans including Radiohead, PJ
Harvey, Amy Winehouse and Arctic Monkeys.
The winner of the Mercury Prize
will be announced on September 8, but prior to that special evening Bat for Lashes can be found on the road for
a North American tour that will include appearances at Lollapalooza and the Outside Lands festival. Live, Natasha and
her brilliant band, The Blue Dreams, don’t just perform; they bring
radiant and kaleidoscopic musical interpretations to the stage, peeling back
and exposing the layers of each song. A Bat for Lashes show is certain to leave
the audience moved and wanting more – and singing the addictive melodies
long after the last note is played. Two Suns – mixing autoharps with
intense electronics, complex drum rhythms with lush keyboards and strings
– explores dualities on a
number of levels, detailing two lovers, two planets, two moons, two sides of a
personality and more. Natasha’s
beautifully haunting performance style breathes new life into these already
dazzling songs, wowing all who see her.
Natasha took over late night TV with lead single “Daniel“:

LA ROUX
Cherrytree
Record’s La Roux have just been nominated for the UK’s prestigious Mercury
Prize. Since Elly Jackson and Ben Langmaid began collaborating as La Roux just a few years ago, they have
made quite the splash in their hometown of London as well as in dance clubs and on radio
waves worldwide. The synth-pop duo’s inventive take on 80’s
classics can be found on upcoming debut release La Roux (Cherrytree Records, September
29th), an impressive tour de force that’s sure to top the charts on this
side of the Atlantic. Soon-to-be classic current single “Bulletproof” has already
debuted on the UK Singles Chart at #1 and track “In For the Kill” remained at #2 for several
consecutive weeks. Critics have taken note and fans have trumpeted their
loyalty to the ever-so-talented Mercury Prize nominee – La Roux!
Not only are Elly and Ben celebrating the nomination, but also today’s
