BEBEL GILBERTO NORTH AMERICAN TOUR!
Brazilian vocalist Bebel Gilberto is back in the US and will be
kicking off her tour in Washington DC on Nov 23. She'll be playing
songs from All In One, her rhythmically focused new album
that's mostly sung in Portuguese. Bebel continues to put her own poppy
spin on the heart and soul of traditional Brazilian music.
A few tidbits about Bebel:
• Yes, she is the daughter of João Gilberto who performed that super famous version of "The Girl From Ipanema"
• You've heard her breezy, throaty voice on collaborations with David Byrne, Amon Tobin, Thievery Corporation and more.
• There are a slew of guest collaborators on the All In One,
including including Carlinhos Brown (Caetano Veloso), Didi Gutman
(Brazilian Girls), Mark Ronson, Daniel Jobim (grandson of Antonio
Carlos Jobim) and John King (the Dust Brothers.)
• Mark Ronson produced the Stevie Wonder-penned song “The Real
Thing,” which was originally recorded by Sergio Mendes. And yup, that's
The Dap Kings, (Sharon Jones and Amy Winehouse) on the track as well.
