Betty
Who scores her first #1 track on the Billboard Dance Club Songs Chart
with "Somebody Loves You." "Somebody Loves You" appears on Betty Who's
debut EP "The Movement," which previews her debut RCA Records EP 'Slow
Dancing,' which is due April 8.
Named an "Act to Watch" this year by Time Magazine, MTV, Refinery29,
Huffington Post, and more, the 22-year-old Australian-born singer will
also embark on a 20 city U.S. run, The Slow Dancing Tour, on March 22nd (dates below).
In addition, Betty Who will headline the week as the house band for Bravo Media's "Watch What Happens Live" for SXSW airing Sunday, March 9 thru Thursday, March 13 at 11pm ET/PT. "Betty Who is a multigenerational pop goddess," says Andy Cohen. "I am thrilled she's going to provide the soundtrack for a week of unforgettable shows."
Praised
for her "distinctly bright voice and arresting pop textures"
(Billboard), Betty Who has been described as a mixture of "early
Madonna," "Katy Perry and Robyn, with spunk and confidence" (NY Mag). The "smart, infectious" (Elle) songwriting on her new EP will solidify her place as "the next great pop star" (Idolator).
"Heartbreak Dream," the EP's anthemic single, (released on 2/18) has been a fan favorite at shows since last fall. Songs like "Alone Again"- which Betty Who describes as sounding like "Prince and ABBA had a baby"-or "Giving Me Away," epitomize what Who says has inspired her music: "We're all secretly wrecks and we're all in love and all being heartbroken," she says. "Combining those things for me has been a huge tool to get the sound I want."
The NYC-based, Berklee grad has earned praise across the mainstream and indie spectrums for her acclaimed debut EP, 'The Movement' and her live show, which Buzzfeed says, "You HAVE to see."
Zak Waters and Cardiknox will open for Betty Who throughout the tour.
