Bird Dog to support Ryan Bingham on U.S tour!

posted Jan 18, 2016, 9:53 AM by Vu Nguyen
Emerging LA-based band Bird Dog have confirmed new tour dates supporting Ryan Bingham on his U.S. tour. The tour will make stops as Madison’s Majestic Theatre, Philadelphia’s Theatre of Living Arts, New York City’s Irving Plaza and more. In addition, Bird Dog is confirmed for this year’s SXSW as well as Bottle Rock Festival. See below for details.

The band’s debut EP Misty Shrub, due January 22 on IAMSOUND Records, is receiving early critical buzz—Paste hails, “It's this South-Central Americana-meets- Laurel Canyon vibe that first grabs your attention listening to these songs” while NME praises the band’s “impressive harmonies,” and The Wild Honey Pie furthers they’re “dynamic.”

Misty Shrub was produced by James McAlister (known for his work with Sufjan Stevens), mixed by The Shins’ Yuuki Matthews and recorded in the band’s own studio, set up in a dilapidated house in Latigo Canyon in Malibu, CA. Of the process, the band explains, “The room up in that house had this great, warm sound that we all really fell in love with and wanted to capture. The songwriting process was very collaborative. We all brought in bits and pieces of ideas we had gathered over the years and kind of just let them become what they are. People do so many great and terrible things, we love to write about those things and what its like to observe them.”

Bird Dog is Maxim Helmerich (vocals, guitar), Tyler Wimpee (guitar, vocals), Eric Arndt (bass, vocals), Colton Dearing (percussion, keys, vocals) and Justin Kila (drums). Three band members hail from Tulsa, OK while two grew up in Dallas, TX. They all came to L.A. around the same time and reconnected serendipitously.
