BNLX back in action after 2 year hiatus with new “emergency” single release + shows on 4/8 and 4/15

The new
BNLX single “Resist, Resist” will have its world premiere on The Current during the April 2, 2017 edition of The Local Show, broadcast & streamed, starting at 6pm CDT.

When BNLX played its most recent shows in Spring 2015 (the explosive BNLXFest III and NYC gigs with Les Big Byrd), band founders Ed and Ashley Ackerson knew they would be off the radar for a little while due to the imminent arrival of their daughter Annika. However, the ensuing months saw a series of unexpected massive life events unfold in rapid succession, including the death of Ed’s parents and the loss of the family’s two dogs and cat (including BNLX album cover stars Wiggy and Twiki). Not surprisingly, band activities got put on hold, and what had looked like a 4-6 month break turned into a full blown two-year hiatus.

Recent political developments have given the band a renewed purpose, and it became clear that now is the time for the band to return to action. BNLX has always been a band with a distinct socio-political outlook, with a mission to inform, agitate, and motivate for change and social justice. The first product of the reconstituted BNLX is the new “emergency” single, “Resist, Resist.” The song’s urgent message of unity, tolerance, and vigilance is reinforced by a massive (and growing!) cast of guests who lent their voices to the song’s refrain. Choir/mob members include Mark Mallman (and his dad, John), Ciaran Daly (The Stress of Her Regard), Two Harbors, Tommy Rehbein (Naive Sense/Farewell Continental), PD Larson, Jonatan Westh (Blackstrap), with more people from around the city/country/world adding tracks remotely before the song’s official release.

To coincide with this 2017 BNLX reboot, two shows have been scheduled: Saturday, April 8th at the Uptown VFW (with superfriend Mark Mallman) and Saturday, April 15th at the What’s Up Lounge in Mankato (with The Blind Shake and Kid Dakota).
