Brothers and Sisters - Fortunately (08/19/08)

Austin, TX country-fied rockers Brothers And Sisters return with Fortunately, the follow-up to 2006’s self-title debut.  Led by real-life siblings Will and Lily Courtney, Brothers And Sisters music reaches back to a sunnier age of West Coast pop, AM radio balladry and classic country.  Beautiful harmonies are rampant throughout the album harking comparisons to 60’s and 70’s greats like The Beach Boys and Gram Parsons.  “You’re Gone,” the most rocking track on Fortunately is the perfect example of old-time pedal steel country cranked to 11 with distorted guitars and cut-time drumming.  Will Courtney shows off his knack for gorgeous balladry with the song “Make A Man’s Body Hurt,” a track that could easily be found on any lonely saloon’s jukebox.  Fortunately is truly an amazing album of sun-bake melodies with Texas heritage country.  Fans of Drive-By Truckers and Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy prepare to fall head over heels for Brothers And Sisters’ Fortunately.
