From Press Here
Press Here has some great bands in town for this year’s CMJ Festival.
Please let us know if you would like to check out any of these shows here in NYC!
AMAZING BABY - 10/19 @ Mercury Lounge // 10/21 @ Annex // 10/23 @ Studio at
Webster Hall // 10/25 @ Glasslands
Brooklyn's own Amazing Baby are a band you
absolutely should not miss at this year's CMJ. With a crushing sound akin
to Black Sabbath, early Pink Floyd, and the dusty highways of the West Coast,
Amazing Baby's live show, seven members strong, is already bordering on
transcendent. They've opened for MGMT and Bloc Party, and are working on
a record that's due out next year. Be the first to say "I saw
Amazing Baby way back when..."
LYKKE LI - 10/21 @ Bowery Ballroom
Swedish pop songstress Lykke Li is heating up CMJ with a
performance that is not to be missed! After a sold-out tour with El Perro del
Mar earlier this year, Lykke Li is returning to NYC as part of her Fall U.S.
tour in support of her debut album Little
Bit. Praised by critics and music lovers alike, Lykke Li’s otherworldly
minimalist pop music transcends genres. Using only the basics - drums, acoustic
guitar and bass, a sole keyboard - and a necklace full of percussion, Lykke Li
puts on an incredibly captivating show, reworking each song for the stage so
that it gets crowds dancing while taking on a life of its own. Check out why
Lykke Li has been winning over audiences across the globe!

BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE - 10/24 @ Masonic Temple
After a brilliant set headlining this year's Siren Festival, Broken
Social Scene are back in NYC for their only show this Fall at Brooklyn's Masonic Temple. Touring behind co-founder
and bassist Brendan Canning's amazing solo record, Something For All Of Us...,
Broken Social Scene will be playing lots from Brendan's record, Kevin
Drew's solo record Spirit If..., and many fan favorites from their amazing
discography.
LOQUAT – 10/24 @ Ace of Clubs
Celebrating the release of their latest album Secrets of the Sea, LOQUAT will
co-headline a bill of all San Francisco rockers at the official San Francisco
CMJ showcase at Ace of Clubs on October 24th at 11pm. Lead singer/songwriter
Kylee Swenson sings songs inspired by the natural fear of what's uncertain.
At times while recording Secrets of
the Sea, bassist (and husband) Anthony Gordon would often stop and
wonder, "Is Kylee singing about me?" And that's what makes this
record so raw. While the disc combines the indie pop sensibility of a
Beth Orton or Nina Persson there is also a vulnerability that listeners will
latch onto and apply to their own relationships. Loquat played San Francisco's Treasure
Island Festival on September 20th alongside Justice, TV on the Radio, Goldfrapp
and more. Lead single "Harder Hit" is currently in rotation on
Live 105 - San Fran's largest rock station. The music video for "Harder
Hit" was recenetly premiered on imeem.com and is based on the French film
Le Ballon Rouge. Check it out here: http://www.imeem.com/loquat/video/OVi0wPYS/loquat_harder_hit_music_video/
ANNUALS - 10/25 @ Webster Hall
Annuals, Raleigh,
North Carolina's charming six-piece
collective, will make a stop in NYC as part of their Fall tour, coinciding with
the recent release of their critically acclaimed sophomore album, Such Fun.
Annuals newest collection of songs showcases the band’s dynamic
songwriting, lush soundscapes and their colorful spirit. On stage, Annuals draw
on the energy from each other, often exchanging instruments between and during
songs. Don’t miss Annuals’ electrifying NYC show!
