CYBER PR LAUNCHES ITS NEW URBAN DIVISION!

Ariel Publicity & Cyber PR will be unveiling their new division Cyber PR Urban. Cyber PR Urban will handle Hip Hop and R&B clients as well as urban and urban crossover artists. Cyber PR Urban was put into place to connect urban artists to urban blogs, podcasters, internet radio stations, vlogs, social networking sites, and webzines, for online publicity.

Cyber PR Director of Publicity Christina Duren will head the Urban Division. "I am delighted that Christina will be at the helm of Cyber PR Urban. Christina's background in urban PR campaigns for Island/Def Jam Records (Ne-Yo, Rihanna, The Roots, and Mariah Carey) and personal involvement in the urban music scene make her perfect fit for the job as the head of Cyber PR Urban" says President of Cyber PR Ariel Hyatt. "Christina has spent years in the urban scene and understands what makes urban bloggers pay attention."

With the new division, Cyber PR will also be launching a Cyber PR website www.cyberprurban.com and bi-weekly newsletter The Urban Plug: Web 2.0 Strategies for the Urban Artist. Cyber PR Urban's bi-weekly newsletter will shed light on online and offline tips for urban artists to utilize to boost their musical careers.

THIS WEEK'S FEATURED ARTISTS

Carrie Rodriguez
Genre:
Pop
http://www.arielpublicity.net/clients/2483
Pigeonhole Carrie Rodriguez at your peril. Sure, she's done a lot of duets. She plays a fiddle. (a mean one at that.) She's recorded songs with a pleasing, folksy twang. But don't think you know what you're getting. Not yet 30, and with a critically-acclaimed solo record and several well-received duet records in her wake, the classically trained singer/songwriter has just begun flexing her artistic muscles, still figuring out how far her talents will take her. If you're looking for someone playing it safe and sticking to tried-and-true ways of music making, as the title of Rodriguez's daring new album aptly states, SHE AIN'T ME.

Chris Daniels & the Kings
Genre:
Rock, Blues, Funk, Swing, Jazz
http://www.arielpublicity.net/clients/2469
Chris Daniels & the Kings signature-sound is smoking at BBQ temperature, with a brassy, blues-rock sound originating somewhere between Memphis and New Orleans with an almost 25 year history as Colorado's ambassadors of rootsy funk and swing.

Featured Artist Video:
"Running Away" by Sabrina Shaheen
Genre:
Pop
http://www.arielpublicity.net/clients/2496
Sabrina’s CD, Love Is... is a vocally driven pop CD with various musical genres coming together to create one sound that is uniquely hers. With an imaginative contrast of vocal stylings and dynamic arrangements, Sabrina is destined to shed new light on contemporary music.

For years, Sabrina Shaheen has touched listeners with the sound of her voice and her dedication to uplifting people with her music. Whether singing in the theater, the symphony, in film or in concert, Sabrina is one of those rare performers whose singing conveys both passionate beauty and depth. Her new album, Love Is... is a powerful expression of her musical vision, one that has been a lifetime in the making.

New Media Pioneer: Stacy Jacobs of Sassy Pants Radio

http://www.myspace.com/sassypantsradio

Sassy Pants Radio is a weekly radio show, which showcases queer women, relationships and also has a featured artist each week!

Q: How long have you been broadcasting?

A: Sassy Pants Radio has been on Blog Talk Radio since early 2008.

Q: In your opinion, what does a good song need to consist of?

A: I think good lyrics and great melodies always catch my ear. Music is completely subjective, but if you pour yourself into your songs, I think an audience will always find it's way to you.

Q: What is your favorite band or favorite genre of music and why?

A: I am all over the place when it comes to music, depending on my mood. Some of my favorite bands/artists include The Pixies, Coldplay, Sara Barielles. I'm also loving Jamie Lidell right now, and bands like The Gossip and 8 Inch Betsy (all girl punk band from Chicago).

Q: What changes in content laws, broadcasting rights, etc. have effected you most?

A: The most obvious change is the costs for running an internet radio station. I can't afford the webcasting fees that internet radio stations must pay to play major or most indie label music. However, the good news is that I think this allows indie and underground artists to start receiving some great exposure from podcasts or internet radio stations who would like to promote indie arists.

Q: A recent study found blogs to be more effective than MySpace in generating album sales, do you feel internet radio has the same power?

A: Yes! I think that with more and more people listening to internet radio at work, at home and listening to podcasts, there is a lot of opportunity for artists to break into the masses.
