Martin Courtney on 2016 US Tour

posted Jan 30, 2016, 5:39 PM by Vu Nguyen
After capping off 2015 with a sold-out album release show at National Sawdust in Brooklyn, Martin Courtney is pleased to announce a 2016 East Coast tour, in support of his recently-released, critically applauded solo album Many Moons. The shows, following his West Coast run in January, will feature his full band - Jarvis Taveniere of Woods, Matt Kallman of Real Estate, Doug Keith and Aaron Neveu - and will be the first time fans in cities beyond New York experience the album live.

Many Moons has been winning hearts and fans across the country, and is currently the #1 Most Played album on KCRW, and has been getting heavy support from KEXP, The Current, WFUV, and World Café. NPR featured the song ‘Northern Highway’ in their monthly feature Heavy Rotation, which highlights songs that public radio can’t stop playing. Sirius XM have also been spinning songs from the album consistently, in addition to a cover of Pavement’s ‘Major Leagues’, which Courtney and band recorded in their studios in October.

10 Best Bands We Saw At The 2015 CMJ Music Marathon - VILLAGE VOICE

“When on his own, Courtney displays some of Real Estate’s grooviest qualities, from the wholesome lyrics that detail a nostalgic yearning for his New Jersey suburban past to his mastering of the mid-tempo rhythm that casts body-swaying spells. [The band’s] tight coordination and performance verified Courtney’s leadership.” - VILLAGE VOICE

Courtney and his ace band were joined for part of the show by a string section… that certainly made songs like 'Foto', 'Before We Begin' and ‘Vestiges' all the more lush.”- BROOKLYN VEGAN

“Many Moons works as a remarkably cohesive album, meandering its way across themes of past and present to a state of aching clarity that's modest, but no less genuine for it.”- PITCHFORK

Courtney’s solo debut is a big-hearted reflection on time, memory and innocence that makes growing up sound every bit as scary as it is.”- ROLLING STONE

“A collection of guitar-based melodies that rank among Courtney’s finest work in any context” CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND
