Royal Blood To Perform At SXSW

posted Mar 7, 2014, 7:56 AM by Vu Nguyen
Already making noise in their native Britain after pulverizing debut single "Out of The Black", Royal Blood (23 year-old vocalist/bassist Mike Kerr and 25 year-old drummer Ben Thatcher) will bring their explosive live show to the U.S. with four appearances at SXSW, performing at the Secret Sounds showcase, BBC6Music showcase, Rockfeedback/Visions Day party and the Filter party.

Royal Blood is a mixture of anguished vocals, ferocious drumming and bass that provides intricate detail as well as a rumble of rhythm. The duo's sound is a result of a lineage that stretches from present day heroes Queens of the Stone Age to the influential Led Zeppelin, and all the way back to early blues pioneers... yet this huge wall of sound emerges from just two men.  In next to no time, the two have earned critical praise following the release of their debut single "Out of the Black" on the band's own label Black Mammoth Records last year. Now signed to Warner Bros. Records in the U.S., the label will release Royal Blood's debut EP on March 18th

Royal Blood follow their sold out tour and recent nomination for the BBC Sound of 2014 poll with a slot on the NME Tour with Interpol & two huge outdoor shows supporting Arctic Monkeys in London's Finsbury Park on May 23rd and 24th.

Early praise...

"They conjure a sound that strips rock back to its bare essentials to achieve maximum intensity."

- NME

"Chief flag bearers for riff-based rock 'n' roll." - Q

"Sounds like The White Stripes ram-raiding Led Zeppelin's back catalogue." - Kerrang!

"Can dredge the rawest primal racket out of just two instruments." - The Guardian
